Description
An electrical load list template in Excel for industrial and process plants. List every motor, heater, package and feeder once, and the workbook calculates full-load current, connected, operating and standby load, and maximum demand in kW and kVA for every load. It then totals the demand for each MCC and board, applies diversity and growth, and suggests a standard transformer size. Use it at design and RFQ stage, or to check a contractor’s or vendor’s load figures.
The load list sits at the start of every E&I package. The MCC sizes, transformer, cable schedule and control system I/O all follow from it. This template keeps it in one clear sheet, with the totals and checks done for you.
What’s included in the load list
- Load list: room for 1,000 loads with tag, description, area, panel / MCC, starter or feeder type, operating and standby quantity, rated kW, voltage, power factor, efficiency and load factor. Defaults are applied where cells are left blank.
- Calculated for every load: phases, full-load current per unit, connected load, operating load, standby load, and maximum demand in kW and kVA.
- Cable and site data: hazardous area / Ex rating, IP rating, local control station, cable type, cable size and cable length.
- I/O per load: DI, DO, AI, AO and network points from the starter type, ready for the control system.
- Starter / feeder types: DOL, star-delta, reversing, soft starter, VFD (network or hardwired), single-phase motors, heaters, packages, supply, DB and spare feeders, each with phases, power factor and I/O. Edit them to match your standards.
- MCC and panel summary: feeders, motors, VFDs, connected, operating and standby kW, maximum demand, diversity, diversified and design demand incl. growth, and incomer current for every MCC or board.
- Plant maximum demand and transformer sizing: site diversity, growth allowance, design demand, main switchboard current and a suggested standard transformer size (100 to 3,150 kVA).
- I/O export: motor and feeder I/O in the exact format of the Tender and Claim Control System I/O Counter, ready to paste in.
Built for real projects
- Operating and standby quantities are kept separate, so duty / standby pumps don’t double the demand.
- A check column flags missing panels, unknown starter types and incomplete rows.
- Set the supply voltages, default power factor, efficiency, load factor, growth allowance and diversity to suit your site.
- Pairs with the Control System I/O Counter and the Electrical Installation BOQ.
File details
- Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) for Excel 2016 or later, Microsoft 365 and LibreOffice 7 or later. No macros.
- Yellow cells are inputs. Formulas on the summary sheets are protected without a password, so they can’t be overwritten by accident.
- Instructions sheet in every file, plus a Read Me PDF with a one-minute quick start.
- Instant download after purchase. Re-download any time from My Account.
- Licensed for use on your own projects. Not for resale or redistribution.
This template is a tool to save you time. It is not engineering advice. Load figures, diversity, transformer and cable sizes must be checked and confirmed by a qualified electrical engineer against the applicable standards (e.g. AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3008, or your local equivalents).
